As we know that Reliance Jio Infocomm is one of the biggest telecommunication firms in India and Reliance Industries as it’s parent company. Since Jio holding million of customers in India, some of the unscrupulous persons tried the fraudulent attempts to misguide the public in the name of Jio to steal the user’s information.
Cyber Criminals uploaded at least 22 Fake Cryptocurrency Apps under JioCoin name into Google Play store and compromising users to invest in it. While most of these apps have fewer than 1,000 downloads. But there are three, which have been downloaded between 1,000 and 5,000 times, and two which have been downloaded between 10,000 and 50,000 times.
What they were doing basically was stealing personal information from the user. As soon as the user installs and provide access to set of permission to run on the system, and after that it will make the user wait in the queue for coin exchange. But nothing actually happens on the backend. Some of these apps could be hiding a new kind of malware, which uses the processing power of your phone to mine cryptocurrencies in the background says, Researchers.
As per quoted by Reliance Jio,
” Any such apps using the JioCoin name are fake and people are advised to beware of any malicious activity.“
